Seventeen counties in Florida and more than 100 municipalities have passed summer fertilizer runoff restrictions to reduce nutrient pollution that imperils waterways and wildlife and the health of fragile ecosystems. But anti-environmental lawmakers snuck into the state budget a one-year moratorium on these locally approved ordinances, along with an appropriation to “further study” what is already proven to be a common-sense, effective approach to protecting our waterways.
Urge Gov. DeSantis to veto this language from the budget, including funding for the polluter supported and unnecessary “study”.
