Pledge To Vote No On Amendment 1

Florida should be a leader in solar energy, but if Amendment 1 passes a major barrier to reaching that goal will be enshrined in our state Constitution. That’s because despite its misleading title and ballot language, Amendment 1 would create barriers to solar energy use and increase Florida’s reliance on dirty energy. Simply put, Amendment 1 is harmful to Florida consumers, our environment and future generations.

Floridians support solar energy, as shown this past August when voters overwhelmingly approved Amendment 4 to allow tax breaks for consumers who install solar panels on their homes and businesses. But now the Big Utilities have unleashed Amendment 1, along with a multi-million dollar campaign designed to trick voters into supporting this measure. Don’t be fooled, as in reality Amendment 1 would only tighten the monopolies’ grip over Florida’s energy future and our dependence on fossil fuels.

Pledge To Vote No On Amendment 1

I pledge to vote No on Amendment 1. As a supporter of solar power, I'm opposed to efforts by big utilities to create new barriers to solar energy use in Florida.

Florida should be a leader in solar energy. Amendment 1 represents a threat not only to solar power, but to Florida consumers, our environment, and future generations.

    Friends,

Amendment 1 on Florida's November ballot is a deceptive, anti-solar amendment bankrolled by big utility companies, fossil fuel interests and groups with ties to the Koch Brothers.

A wolf in sheep’s clothing, Amendment 1 would stifle solar power and keep Floridians captive to monopoly power companies. We must defeat this dirty energy proposal if Florida is ever going to live up to its reputation as “The Sunshine State”.

Join me and support solar: sign the pledge to vote NO on the deceptive, anti-solar Amendment 1.

Amendment 1 was intentionally written so that utility companies could impose fines on solar users and to weaken or eliminate the state’s ‘net metering’ policy – a critical tool in promoting home solar use.

Let’s defeat Amendment 1 in November and ensure that Florida can help lead the way toward a clean energy future.
