The Florida Legislature Must #HearTheBills on Gun Safety

The students of Douglas High School who survived a tragic mass shooting are demanding real, substantive action by Florida’s lawmakers on gun safety. We’re standing with them.

Sign the petition to Florida’s Republican legislative leadership demanding they finally take action against gun violence and #HearTheBills on gun safety.

Petition To Florida's Republican Legislative Leadership

We the undersigned urge you to hear bills related to gun safety. In the wake of yet another mass shooting, this time taking the lives of 17 innocent students and faculty. The time for empty rhetoric, diversions, and half-measures on guns is over. The time for real, substantive action is now.

An assault weapons ban (HB 219/SB 196), universal background checks (SB 838), a ban on bump stocks which allows semiautomatic rifles to fire faster (HB 321/SB 456), being able to petition a court to take away firearms from high risk individuals (SB 530), and other popular gun safety legislation are currently languishing in committees and have not received a single hearing. We demand these bills receive a hearing, a public debate, and a vote.

Floridians have waited too long for action on gun safety.
