Subject: Another big developer water grab?
Friends-
Our local communities should be allowed to make their own decisions regarding our water, not politicians in Tallahassee.
HB 703 not only prohibits local governments from enforcing wetlands, springs or storm water protections – it takes the decision-making powers out of their hands and gives it to Tallahassee politicians.

When Gov. Rick Scott abolished the Department of Community Affairs, which oversaw Florida’s growth development plans, he argued that growth management and land use decisions should be left to local governments. Now those rights are being taken away. HB 703 also grants dangerously long (up to 50 years!) consumptive use permits that could threaten Florida's ability to manage water in the future.
As Florida's population increases, our vital water resources need greater protection and oversight – not less. It’s no surprise that this bill is enthusiastically supported by big developers and polluting corporate interests.

Thanks for protecting our community's water.
