Stop the University of Florida from using methane gas in their new power plant

The University of Florida President and their Board of Trustees are planning to build a Central Energy Plant powered by methane gas. Methane extraction alone can create a slew of environmental and health issues that are irrevocably detrimental to the ecosystem and the community. The University has committed to carbon neutrality by the year 2025 and this plan would make that impossible.

This new power plant will set the city back in their promise to build a cleaner future for their students and community. They have been presented with a report from the Rocky Mountain Institute with a plan that uses 100% renewable energy and is much less expensive than the $235 million they will spend on the Central Energy Plant. The University has a choice on how they will protect their community.
