Be A Citizen Co-Sponsor Of The Competitive Workforce Act

Did you know that in Florida you can be fired or not hired simply because of who you love? The bipartisan Competitive Workforce Act would change that by outlawing GLBT discrimination in the workplace.

Join Equality Florida and Progress Florida and add your name as a citizen co-sponsor of the Competitive Workforce Act. We'll deliver all the signatures we collect to the Florida Legislature.

As Floridians, we support changing our state's laws to protect gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees from discrimination in the workplace. No Floridian should suffer the threat of losing a job simply because of who they love. We support legislation, the Florida Competitive Workforce Act (HB 239), to extend workplace protections to GLBT workers. We urge you to support this important legislation and consider signing on as a co-sponsor.

Florida law protects all sorts of people from discrimination on the job, but not sexual orientation and gender identity. It's time for this to end. A bipartisan group of leaders in the Florida House have introduced the Competitive Workforce Act to make sure no Floridian can be fired simply because of whom he or she loves. Several Republican representatives have signed on as co-sponsors and a coalition of businesses including Disney, CSX, Wells Fargo, and more are also pushing this commonsense measure.

Support is growing to end discrimination in Florida’s workplaces. Will you help?

Stopping discrimination is a pretty simple concept. In fact, dozens of major employers across Florida enforce the same protections. It's our government that's out of step. If we’re serious about growing Florida’s economy, we have to make sure we attract the best and brightest.

    Thanks for your help.
